We are The Book Worm Powder Springs.
We opened our doors in October of 2005 in the back room of our shop with a few hundred gently used books in just a few assorted genres; now, we are home to over 30,000 titles in a wide variety of genres with hundreds of accessories!
Set in the heart of historic, downtown Powder Springs, we strive to bring the best in literature, from international best sellers to our own local literary giants, to a growing community that’s as diverse as the books on our shelves!
We have had numerous changes over the years with hosting coffee shops, promoting author events and even have had a change of ownership. Currently, Susan, the original owner is back on board and is looking forward to seeing new faces as well as lots of regular customers. She is also now looking a bit different with the loss of 130 lbs so if you see someone who looks a little familiar, it most likely be her, just ask! Here is a quick before and after. While the bookstore is so important to her, being a health coach and helping people get healthy is also another hat she wears. Hubby Steven also shed 150 lbs so they are happy to share their secrets to success with you, but only if you ask!
We were so excited to be featured in the January 2016 "Half Their Size" issue of People Magazine!
At the Book Worm, we celebrate small businesses and shop local programs. We encourage you to please ask us for a recommendation to any small business or service and we hope to find you someone that can fit your need while you support your locals. Our community is expanding daily; unique and diverse, we strive to meet the needs of each of our customers with a wide variety of genres and accessories, online shopping and special ordering services.
Never forgetting the importance of face-to-face conversation and the personal relationships we have built with our customers over the years, we have branched out into social media outlets. We love to shout out on Facebook daily, so please be sure to become a fan so we can spoil you even more with specials, events and local shout outs!
In the interest of furthering education, The Book Worm has participated in several book drives for local schools and literacy programs in the years since our opening as well as offering a 10% discount on all books purchased by teachers for their classroom. Instilling a love of reading in a child is one of the best gifts we can give; it lights the way for a bright future and we’re thrilled help them along that path in any way we can.
Events at the store
The Book Worm has hosted several fantastic authors over the years. We continue to host authors from all over the country for signings, discussions and readings. We keep our customers updated on all events through our website, our monthly newsletter and our Facebook fanpage. Check in often; we have all kinds of goings on here!
Here are our resident kitties for adoption. These babies need to find their fur-ever homes! To apply click here
We are pleased to announce all our babies have been adopted- 11 to date since last April! Because we are currently a "for sale" building, we no longer are keeping babies in the store for adoption but are planning on having events at the store in 2016. In the meantime, please check out the babies at Fancy Felines Rescue of The South at the link just above.
Our newest residents are Taylor and Ivy, Flame Point Siamese babies. Picture doesn't do them any justice, they need to be seen in person!
We will be adding a picture later with their bio's but if you go to our facebook page, there is one there. (sorry, technical issues happen!)

- Top right is Alice who is a Lynx Point Siamese/Snowshoe mix. Born 4/16/14. Adoption fee includes already spayed, micro chipped and shots. Hi! I'm ALICE, a Lynx Point Siamese/Snowshoe mix, and my birthday is ~4/16/2014. Unlike my sisters, I am the one with a white coat and cute stripes beside each eye as if I'm wearing spectacles. I think I look like some of the Egyptian goddesses because those cute stripes also look like the eyeliner those goddesses wore. I consider myself to be wise and confident - much more so than my two sisters. I have no fear and I like to eagerly investigate the world around me. If you will take me home with you, I promise I'll give you years and years of love, laughter, loyalty, and companionship; and for right now, you'll get to enjoy all my kitten antics before I become a teenager!
