Local Georgia author's Susan Clotfelter Jimison, Rona Simmons and Constance McKee, (3 of the Book Widows) joined us to share their newest books with you!
Susan will be bringing her newest title, Through The Eyes Of A Tiger, The John Donovan Story
In 1941, the American Volunteer Group, better known as the Flying Tigers, successfully battled the Japanese in the sky under the skillful command of General Claire Lee Chennault. Their small cadre of trained fighter pilots went to China determined to fight the Japanese who had already brutally killed over a million men, women and children. This is the story of one member of the original Flying Tigers, John Donovan. Through his letters, in his words, you will travel the seas to Burma, experience the pitfalls of training and what it was like to see the "big red circle" on a Japanese fighter plane up close. From Florida's Pensacola Naval Air Station to the Hanoi airfield where John was shot down, you are taken on a flight back in time-- one you won't soon forget.
Joining her will be Rona Simmons with her newest title, Postcards from Wonderland, a novel.
One night, at the end of an alley, Rose Margolin’s world changes forever. Everything she’s ever known and trusted is pulled like a rug from beneath her feet.
Everyone sees Isador for the dreamer he is—he’s a talker and ambitious to a fault. Everyone, that is, except his wife, Rose, who ignores the warnings. She is in love and determined to follow Isador wherever he leads, never imagining she’ll find herself sitting across a table from one of Revere Beach’s Prohibition-era mob bosses. Or that she’ll seek help from Jacob Moll her young neighbor, and from Samuel Bloom—better known as Earl the Ear—one of the mob’s most feared leg-breakers.
The setting for Rona Simmons’s second novel is no accident. The beach at Revere, once known as “America’s Beach,” was home to Wonderland Park, an extravagant amusement park some consider a precursor to Disneyland. It was unlike any park seen before. But Wonderland proved unsustainable, bankrupting its founders and dashing their dreams. The park soon vanished, leaving behind only memories and postcards.
Constance McKee will be here with her new book, The Girl In The Mirror, a novel.
Connie was in private practice in psychiatry for over 10 years before she became a forensic psychiatrist and worked with the criminally insane. The work was fascinating, but also stressful, so she decided it was time for a change. She'd heard amazing stories from her patients--truth is, indeed, stranger than fiction--so she decided to try to put those stories, and her feelings about them, into words (while carefully protecting identities). When she realized that writing wasn't as easy as she thought, she enrolled in the Stonecoast program at the University of Southern Maine, where she received a MFA in creative writing. In addition to "The Girl in the Mirror," she has written short stories: one was given an award by the Atlanta Writers Club, and another appeared in the online literary magazine "The Perch," which is connected to Yale University.

"I have recently given birth to a new book, entitled Mountains to Climb. It’s not too lengthy, and it’s an easy read. It takes you back to a 1940s Appalachian Christmas and an orphan’s reunion with his long lost family. It includes poetry and other prose about dreams and mountains and the challenges of life. It is steeped in Appalachian history and speaks to the resilience of all of us. Hopefully, readers will find it inspirational. I suspect it might be particularly enjoyable to those with mountaineer ancestry, those who value family ties, those who face their own personal mountains and those who dare to dream. It may also be of interest to social workers, counselors and other professionals who are called upon to deal with difficult familial issues. "
Best news yet, you will be supporting a LOCAL author, and all money from our store's proceeds for this book, will go into the Take Care of the Kitties FUND~~!!Oh, and it is only $4.99!!!

We are excited to have 3 authors joining us on August 29th for a special stay open late night hour book signing from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Jennifer E. Smith, author of quite a few YA/Teen books, is visiting us with her newest book, The Geography of You and Me.
About THE GEOGRAPHY OF YOU AND ME: Lucy lives on the twenty-fourth floor. Owen lives in the basement. It's fitting, then, that they meet in the middle -- stuck between two floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they're rescued, Lucy and Owen spend the night wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is back, so is reality. Lucy soon moves abroad with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father.
The brief time they spend together leaves a mark. And as their lives take them to Edinburgh and to San Francisco, to Prague and to Portland, Lucy and Owen stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and phone calls. But can they -- despite the odds -- find a way to reunite?
Smartly observed and wonderfully romantic, Jennifer E. Smith's new novel shows that the center of the world isn't necessarily a place. Sometimes, it can be a person.
About JENNIFER E. SMITH: Jennifer E. Smith is the author of This Is What Happy Looks Like, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, The Storm Makers, You Are Here, and The Comeback Season. She earned a master's degree in creative writing from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and her work has been translated into twenty-nine languages.
The other author signing is Adi Alsaid, author of Let's Get Lost
This captivating cross-country journey begins with Leila. She’s traveling from Louisiana to Alaska in search of the Northern Lights. But this isn’t Leila’s story, not quite. This is the story of a boy named Hudson in Mississippi. And Bree, a girl who seizes every Tuesday. It’s Elliot’s, too, who’s trying to write his own story. And Sonia, who doesn’t realize hers hasn’t ended just yet.
This is an adventure, a romance, a bedtime story, and a mystery. This is a story about love, hope, and searching for answers. This is the story of your best friend, your neighbor, and that girl you once saw crying in a coffee shop. This is a story about the people who help you find yourself. This is your story. Are you ready to get lost?
Author bio: Adi Alsaid was born and raised in Mexico City, then studied at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While in class, he mostly read fiction and continuously failed to fill out crossword puzzles, so it's no surprise that after graduating, he did not go into business world but rather packed up his apartment into his car and escaped to the California coastline to become a writer. He's now back in his hometown, where he writes, coaches high school and elementary basketball, and has perfected the art of making every dish he eats or cooks as spicy as possible. In addition to Mexico, he's lived in Tel Aviv, Las Vegas, and Monterey, California. A tingly feeling in his feet tells him more places will eventually be added to the list. Let's Get Lost is his YA debut.
“A John Green readalike.” – SLJ
“An achingly beautiful story about the profound impacts of opening oneself to a stranger. Reminiscent of John Green’s Paper Towns (Dutton, 2008) and road trip novels that feature a teen paving the way to adulthood, Alsaid’s debut is a gem among contemporary YA novels.” – SLJ
“Five love stories, beautifully woven together by a special girl in search of adventure, hope, and full appreciation of life’s simple pleasures. A do-not-miss. ” – Justine Magazine
“Moving and poignant. Let’s Get Lost by debut author, Adi Alsaid, proves that sometimes you need to lose yourself in order to realize what’s truly important in your life.” - Glitter Magazine
“An entertaining and romantic road-trip debut.” – Kirkus
“…debut author Alsaid creates enough adventure to make the stories feel breathless” – Publishers Weekly
"Leila's quest to find the Northern Lights takes readers on a captivating cross-country journey, where four strangers' adventures collide into one riveting tale of finding yourself." ―YABooksCentral.com

The Cracker Queen
Hometown girl makes good!
Southern laughs galore
In THE CRACKER QUEEN, Lauretta Hannon tells stories with sass, wit and a bit of southern charm. Her entertaining stories of Crazy Aunt Carrie, The Goat Man, her own Mama smuggling cigarettes to chain gangs, and the more unsavory part of Savannah will make you laugh, make you cry and make you toast Lauretta with a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Based on her NPR Commentaries for All Things Considered and her one-woman show, THE CRACKER QUEEN proves that not all southern families are created equal, but they do all know a thing or two about surviving hard times.
